While the book seems to be well written, it's entire premise is that you must begin by downloading sample C# source files. The link provided in the book to does that (Page XXVIII), points to a page that does not provide a download link. Tried contacting the publisher (Pearson - see Copyright) and also contacting the author. Made no progress with either. Can someone help with this?Two days later...the web page for the download has now been updated. Changing my 1 star to 4 (still not a 5 because of what I and others went through - and the publisher's and author's lack of responsiveness).

The writing is good and I've been learning. I'm bummed that examples that use XAML won't work if you're using Visual Studio on Mac. I know it's a Microsoft book teaching a Microsoft language, but just throwing this out to the Mac VS users out there.

Excellent book for those with either a bit of C# knowledge or another language. I was converting from Java and this book gave me all the basics and some more advanced topics.

I liked the balance between giving some info on the considerations behind the language constructs but not going into details to a frightening extent.

I have a little understanding of C# ..I have managed to read the book till 600 page now I become frustrated ..I managed to understand the Binary Tree project reading back and forth for 3 or 4 times ..to understand topics like Generics, Generic Method, collection,Enumerating Collections....the book walks you with only one project "Binary Tree" if u cant understand one point here you will not understand other points I have to search at YouTube that teach me the topics in a simple way and back to Binary Tree now at Task the book teach you drawing an amazing Graph and tech you improving processing time through task. Now if I didn't fully understand the code behind how the Graph drawn how can I fully understand to implement tasks..it may be so cool if you teach us first all topics with code with very simple way and jump to your walkthroughs...Overall the book is Mazing it teach you Concepts Cleary ...it do Deserve *****

My mom is a collector of all things giraffe and she loves it!

I love giraffes and art. I bought some adult coloring markers and saw this thinking it would be a great stress reliever. Not excited that my markers bled thru when they don't on dollar store paper. Not a huge selection, just a couple pages and can't tear them out with ruining. It makes it hard to focus on detail and near the crease. Very expensive adult coloring book for lack of quality and pages. 3 stars are for the giraffe designs. Other than that it would be 1 star

Just Okay.... the actual paper in the book seems cheap and flimsy compared to other “adult coloring books” or even other kids coloring books. In fact, one of the pages looked like it was photocopied incorrectly and was crooked. Would not recommend ...

He came out of love for men. He lived and taught, and he died, loving people. We are all humans. We suffer, searching for a means of salvation-- which we do not find. Why then did Christ come into the world?”The sense of the second, Christ as a man, the humanist view, he describes as follows:“The sense of life, as shown by the Christian religion, consists in living so as to do the will of Him who sent us into life, from whom we are come, and to whom we shall return. The evil of our life consists in acting against this will, and the good in fulfilling it. And the rule given to us for the fulfilment of this will is so very plain and simple that it is impossible not to understand, or to misunderstand it. If you cannot do unto others what you would that they should do to you, at least do not unto them what you would not that they should do unto you.”Finally, we must see how . . . “Christ's teachings are as simple, clear, and doubtless as the fact that all right angles are equal to each other. In order to understand them, we must above all tell ourselves that what we are studying is the highest law, the law of God-- the law by which everything else that we know is measured, and not think the opposite, not search in God's law for that which gives support to human laws, which we believe in advance are sacrosanct.”The call of Christ is both clear, and in reality, unattainable. "He who will not renounce everything cannot be my disciple." In other words, for Tolstoy the bottom line is a practical one, a human attainment, a form of what is known in some circles as “works righteousness.” This would reflect his understanding from the context of the Russian Orthodox tradition.However, Tolstoy writes, “But Christians such as these have never been, are not, and will never be. The Kingdom of God always comes about through effort; it cannot be otherwise. It is impossible to serve both God and Mammon, to be a little bit Christian, to believe in Christianity for self-satisfaction or for the sake of form or for comfort in hard times. Christianity is the teaching of the true life”, as Christ said: "He who believes in me is reborn, he who does not believe does not know life."Simply put, to believe in Christ is to bring about a radical change in the life of the believer. For Tolstoy, if a person is to know such faith, one must simply put aside all erroneous interpretations, that is, make an intellectual transition. According to New Testament theology, especially as expressed by Paul the Apostle in his letters such as Romans, Philippians, Colossians, etc. much more is required, specifically the experience of salvation by faith, as in Romans 5:1, “Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

I'm glad I read this book (on my Kindle). It was autobiographical, and Carter is not the best writer, but his experience came through and I felt his pain and struggle. I'm thrilled he wrote his story and is working with youth to make things better. No kid should suffer in a place that is supposed to help him or her.

A must read for every adult that impacts the lives of young people. Walking in Alton's footsteps will invoke reflection, repentance and resolution.

Not an easy read but certainly a story that needs to be told. A sad story with a happy ending that could make a difference in lives of others.

This man and his story are one of the most inspirational and amazing things I’ve experienced so far while working with children in the mental health field. I’ve actually given my copy away to a young client and plan to order another one!!!

It was a very good book to read and learn how blessed we are and understand why these kids grow up and think the way they do. It is very sad to know they grow up in these conditions and think it is the way of life. I am sharing this book with my grandkids so they will see how fortunate and blessed they are and maybe some day, with God's help, they can give one of these kids an ounce of hope and love to keep on going like Alton. May we all have that opportunity!

The authors give a wonderfully healthy explanation of the history and mechanics of search engine technology and system architecture, then deep dive into both the PageRank and HITS algorithms. It's very good content with a hardcore emphasis on the underlying math.At this point, the material is in slight need of updating with more recent enhancements to Google's platform like RankBrain, but the book is still a valuable addition to any enthusiast's library. A must-read if you need to know how the stuff works.

This book is a good review of the mathematics behind PageRank and other algorithms, such as HITS. It can be used as an auxilliary text in bth graduate and undergraduate courses.The main characteristic of the book is that it covers a subject that is not present in most textbooks of the area.

i am working on page summarisation and i actually needed a mathematical graph method to apply and this book worked.I like the aside. it makes me read it over and over again.Good book with embedded ideas.
