This is certainly the best most detailed map available for Ghana. It is quite large, with each side of the large map only covering half of the country ... but it shows even small remote villages that have no electricity, water or sewer or even passable roads. But as many have written, much of Ghana has never been accurately mapped ... most of the "civilization" is close to the southern coast and when you travel north, much of the mapping is a bit of guess-work ... so I suppose that the map has the best available "guess-work". It is certainly worth buying if you plan to travel in Ghana.

I just returned from a 7 week tour of Ghana, and much to my dismay the innumerable inaccuracies contained in this map caused me a lot of lost time. Essentially other than the major routes, the rest of the roads and paths indicated are not much more than imagination. Many smaller towns are not on this map or placed sometimes by dozens of kilometers from their actual locations. Major towns (like the booming Kasoa not far from Accra) are not even on this map.Eventually I used this map to wrap my shoes when packing my bags.Any traveler will be better served by relying on the small but detailed maps from the current Bradt Travel Guide, although they do cover only "touristy" parts of Ghana.

I really like the layout of this map. It is not small. Probably that is also it one drawback. The map takes up both sides of the rather large paper. Fortunately, I was mostly interested in the southerm half of Ghana and didn't have to keep turning it over. Although the sheet is rather large and cumbersome, it does allow for greater detail, and give a sense of largeness to the country.

Very detailed and very large. I wish it were all on one side but because it is so big it is very detailed.

Saved our lives from getting eaten by lions & tigers. Really!

They are not typical counted-thread designs; they are cross-stitch interpretations of Parisian moments captured in a photo.’Is this a diary?  A memoir?  A textile instruction book?  Or maybe a mix?  Whatever you want to classify it as; the instruction section is just as well presented and thoughtfully planned as the rest.I love how each pattern comes with background information on the source image. This book is full of great ideas, but I would not recommend it to anyone who is not an extremely experienced cross-stitcher. The “patterns” are extremely difficult to follow. I did a project from the book for a friend, and ended up having to chart the entire pattern by hand. Great concept, but not at all well-executed. Had I realized this before I purchased the book, I would have chosen not to.

As another one star review stated, the patterns are not at all easy to follow. Your proficiency at cross stitching whether it be novice or pro does not matter. The patterns are impossible to follow. First and foremost, unlike EVERY OTHER CROSS STITCH PATTERN ON THE PLANET, these are not done on a grid. They are just kind of free hand. Impossible to follow.

Extremely biased against the Bible. Mega errors, tons of personal Atheistic interpretations of Scripture. Why write a book on biblical archaeology when you don't even believe the Bible. That's like writing a book about the life of George Washington when you don't even believe he existed.

What a fascinating book! For all of those who love archaeology, especially when it pertains to confirming the Scriptures, you will enjoy this. I absolutely love the way Jean-Pierre Isbouts writes! He is very thorough yet not tediously boring, giving many historical traces of the development of cultures, languages, and Empires, using maps and actual photos of the sites and of the finds. I love it!

History of Israel in antiquity, Egypt and the Roman rule over Judea during the life time of Jesus, very vividly described, and supported by many archaeological discoveries makes it a concise and yet very commendable book for any history teacher or student.
